Avalokitesvara, Chenrezig Thangka

This Chenrezig Buddha thangka was handmade in Nepal. This thangka is 34 inches long and 20 inches wide. This thangka is made from brocade material. Avalokitesvara is the Bodhisattva of compassion. Avalokitesvara is called Chenrezig in Tibetan. In Chinese, Avalokitesvara is called Guan Yin and depicted in a female form. In Mahayana Buddhism, Avalokitesvara is the bodhisattva who made a vow to listen to the prayers of all people, and he postponed becoming a Buddha himself until he was able to help us achieve nirvana. The heart sutra and the lotus sutras are both associated with Chenrezig.
